Wagner Park
Join experienced anglers for catch-and-release fishing, learn about life in the Hudson River and create an art project inspired by imagining endangered species. The day includes a live performance by Grammy Award-winning Lucy Kalantari & The Jazz Cats! and a Volunteers for Wildlife presentation of Raptors! – get an up-close look at these fascinating birds of prey. The presentation will be followed by a family-friendly nature walk through the gardens of Wagner Park.

Our Future Festival NYC is a day of talks, presentations, workshops, art, performances and discussion, part of Climate Week NYC 2019. The focus is on New York and how we can all participate in preparing for a resilient future. Experience Governors Island’s purpose-built climate resiliency and meet NYC’s climate leaders. The festival will feature informative talks and discussions by climate leaders, creative and fun workshops that spark curiosity and inspire belonging as it relates to our shared urban environment, climate-themed dance and theatrical performances.
A series of guided tours and interactive walks will allow visitors to explore and learn about Governors Island, from its urban farm to resilient new park, through the lens of climate change. Free

The Vendy Awards is an annual street food competition that determines the best street food vendors in New York City. We celebrate the excellent food available on our city’s streets and the hard-working people who bring it to us each day. The Vendy Awards serves as a fundraiser for the Street Vendor Project, a membership-based non-profit organization that stands up for vendors’ rights while providing legal and small-business services.

The young Johannes Brahms caused a sensation when he performed his Piano Quartet in G minor to an enthusiastic audience and critical acclaim at his Vienna debut concert in 1862. Join us when we recreate that excitement with the accomplished pianist Peter Basquin and our Tribeca Chamber Players (Amy Mugavero, violin; Timothy Leonard, cello and Jim Hopkins, viola) in a free performance of the Brahms G minor Piano Quartet, Opus 25, in the Great Hall at Manhattan Youth.
