On February 13th, Valentines Day eve, more than 800 guests joined Lower Manhattanites Samantha and Steve Sendor for the 2019 release party of their annual Sophisticated Weddings magazine.

Sophisticated Weddings, born in 2012, has become the premier resource for those planning to tie the knot.
Publisher Steven Sendor said, “This event is the culmination of our year’s work. Really, it’s the culmination of all the work we’ve put in since we first launched our magazine in May of 2012 and released our first edition in January of 2013. Because each year, we build on the year prior.”
This year’s location was Capitale, the magnificent McKim, Mead and White-designed Bowery Bank headquarters completed in 1895 and located on the Bowery. Its design is said to have started the Roman classical look for bank buildings across the United States.

At the 2019 Sophisticated Weddings party, the landmark building buzzed wall to wall with guests dancing to four different musical acts, ogling models on platforms wearing stunning wedding gowns, and enjoying fancy food from sushi to custom-made donuts.
Editor Samantha Sendor said, “it was so special for us as Lower Manhattan residents to have our best and biggest event to date at such a majestic downtown venue like Capitale. The Sophisticated Weddings release party brings planners, brides, and the industry together, in a fun, celebratory setting that is in essence the anti-“expo”; it impresses upon the beauty, talent, and resources we feature within the magazine, consummating what is possible for a timeless New York wedding.
Christie Brinkley’s wine brand, Bellissima Prosecco, was one of the event’s sponsors. Downtown businesses contributing to the event including London Jewelers, which provided all the jewelry and timepiece for the cover shoot, and Alton Lane, a custom men’s clothier on Harrison Street in TriBeCa that provided a custom tuxedo for the groom on the magazine’s cover.
