Join the Tribeca Chamber Players and pianist Peter Basquin on Sunday, May 15 at 2pm as they perform Antonin Dvorak’s Piano Quintet in A Major, Opus 81 in a free presentation in the Great Hall at the Manhattan Youth Downtown Community Center.
Written in late 1887 – at a time when melody was king – it would be nearly five years before Dvorak arrived in New York City to begin his successful American sojourn. Just as he captured the sounds of this country in his New World Symphony and his American string quartet, the Piano Quintet is a masterpiece that brings the lyrical richness of the Old World to life.
Bring the family, and treat everyone to a musical feast for your ears.
