The River Project invites you to the Wetlab on the south walkway of Pier 40, on Thursday, November 8th, for the Release of the Fishes from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. At 4:30 and 5:30 pm, fish, crabs, snails, and more will be thanked for their service, and returned to the Hudson River whence they came.
This event marks the end of the 2018 season, a highlight of which was the discovery of an eight-inch oyster living near Pier 40-bigger than the record-breaking oysters found near Pier 25 the summer before.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will include remarks made by Professor Jeff Levinton of Stony Brook, and Matthew Washington, the Deputy Borough President of Manhattan. Also on the agenda: refreshments, and raffled prizes.
