The Battery Conservancy opened the lush, green Battery Oval last weekend with the two-day Battery Fair to celebrate the region’s biodiversity.
As downtowners and tourists luxuriated in the thick, new grass, 90 purveyors offered their goods for sale at stands around the perimeter of the beautiful new lawn.
A mix of locals and tourists browsed flowers, fibers, pottery, herbs, meat, seafood and vegetables, some spotting the Conservancy president herself, Warrie Price, in an apron, enjoying the scene.
