On Monday evening May 23rd, supporters of dance came to Gibney Dance Company on Broadway to partake in good food and good dance and to celebrate 25 years.
Founded by Gina Gibney after she had an epiphany on the campus of Case Western and launched her life’s mission to artistic innovation and social justice through dance, the company has become known for its work with domestic violence survivors using dance and creativity as tools of empowerment.
At the 25th anniversary gala, Ms. Gibney and her board of directors announced Making Space for (the future of) Dance, a capital campaign to create seven state-of-the-art studios.
Gibney Dance: Agnes Varis Performing Arts Center is located at 280 Broadway.
