The annual art exhibit presented by the Battery Park City Parks opened on Sunday at the gallery in their headquarters. Scores of watercolors, charcoal and pen drawings were on display, the fruit of labor from dozens of students who participated in the free weekly art classes offered May through October.
Inspired by the natural beautiful beauty of the harbor and the urban environment of Lower Manhattan, this year’s art work displayed talent and individuality amongst the artists. Landscapes, urban scenes and figure drawing were among the subjects.
Pictured above are the BPC Parks art specialists Elise Engler, Larry Dobens and Marla Lipkin along with Craig Hudon, assistant director of Parks Programming.
The exhibit is on view, weekdays 2-4pm now through the end of March at the BPC Parks headquarters at 75 Battery Place.
New classes will begin in May and extend through the end of October. The classes are free and materials are provided. For more information call 212-267- 9700.
