At an October 8 volunteer event, Battery Park City Authority B.J. Jones, Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer, Downtown Alliance president Jessica Lappin, and City Council member Margaret Chin packed bags of fresh produce for delivery to Lower Manhattan seniors. Ms. Brewer and Ms. Chin recently introduced City Council legislation that would grant tax relief to affordable groceries, in an attempt to stem the exodus of supermarkets from local communities.
